License Length

Duration: 1 year from the date of purchase to assign seats. The AORN CineMed Video Library administrator must assign each seat, after which the learner registers. If a learner does not register by the agreement's end date, access to the video library will be unavailable, and the seat will expire.

Seat Pricing and Expiration

Per Learner License: Seats are valid for one year from the Agreement Activation Date, with seat pricing secured for this period. Additional seats may be added during the term at the purchase price stated in the agreement. All seats purchased within the one-year term must be started during the agreement term to avoid expiration.

Unlimited Facility License: Provides unlimited seats accessible to students within the facility license term.

Number of Contact Hours (CH) Both learners and administrators may earn Contact Hours for each video completed with a posttest score of 80% or higher and the completion of an evaluation. View Contact Hours available under the Education Modules section of this webpage.
Student Access Term (Course Completion Period)

Per Learner License: Students have 12 months from the date they first launch the course to access the videos, posttests, and evaluations.

Unlimited Facility License: Students have access through the end of the agreement.

For both license types, students must register before the agreement expiration date to obtain initial access.

Administrator Term

Administrator access is valid for 1 year from the Agreement Activation Date. For any additional administrators activated mid-term, access will expire at the end of the agreement. Upon request, the administrator's access can align with the learner access period for Per Learner Licenses.

Administrator Requirements

A minimum of one administrator is required per AORN CineMed Video Library agreement. Learners cannot register without an assigned administrator.

Clinical RequirementsAORN does not provide a clinical preceptorship or practicum in connection with Periop 101. It is the responsibility of the Administrator to provide a preceptor and to determine the competency of students. AORN does provide a Periop 101 Administrator Resource Center with clinical resources to help Administrators set up their program.

Learner Access TermMost learners complete the course, final exam, and course evaluation in 3-6 months. Learners have a total of 2 years to access the course content from the date the modules were first accessed. If the course is started less than 6 months prior to the Agreement expiration date, the learner will be entitled to the full 2-year access, even if 2 years surpasses the Agreement expiration date. In this instance, Periop 101 administrators must contact the AORN at [email protected] to request for administrator access extension.
Preceptor Access TermPreceptors have 6 months from the date the course was first accessed to complete "Preparing the Preceptor" and the evaluation. Preceptors do not have direct access to Periop 101 modules. Administrators must provide the Preceptor Guidelines and module table of contents.
Administrator Access TermAdministrators have 3 years from the Agreement Activation Date to access the Administrator Implementation Course, learner modules, Administrator Resource Center, and to complete the Implementation Guide, post-test, and evaluation. The Administrator also has 3 years from the Agreement Activation Date to assign the learner seat(s) for Preparing the Preceptor. For additional administrators activated mid-term, access expires at the original Agreement Expiration Date. Administrator access can be extended for 6 months in the event a learner begins the course less than 6 months from the Agreement Expiration Date.
Administrator RequirementsEach Periop 101 agreement requires at least one experienced perioperative nurse as an Administrator. The Administrator must complete the Implementation Guide, post-test, and evaluation before enrolling any learners or preceptors. Learner participation in Periop 101 is dependent on the presence of an Administrator.

Membership Inclusion
Periop 101 learners receive a 2-year AORN membership with the program. Learners who are current members will have their membership extended for an additional 2 years. Memberships are processed when they start their course. 

Periop 101 administrators receive AORN membership through the end of their Master Learning Agreement (MLA), regardless of when they register. Memberships are processed upon enrollment in the program. 

The memberships mentioned above are only available to customers participating in Periop 101 through the AORN Learning Management System. Contact AORN for details at [email protected]. No refunds on previously purchased memberships.
