Zach Swartz is a Perioperative Practice Specialist at AORN. Zach is updating the Guideline for Pneumatic Tourniquet Safety. He also offers clinical information to members via the AORN Nurse Consult Line, contributes to the Clinical Issues column, and is the author of the AORN Journal Back to Basics 2.0 column. He also serves as one of the Staff Liaisons to the Clinical Nursing Practice Committee. Prior to coming to AORN he was a Perioperative Educator at a large academic medical center, where he alongside his Educator colleagues oversaw the onboarding, orientation, and continued education of perioperative staff across three hospitals and multiple ambulatory sites. He was instrumental in implementing a fully electronic orientation tracking system that allowed preceptors and trainees to track orientation progress, document milestones, and furthered the health system sustainability efforts.
