As a cisgender gay man, Dr. Reece-Nguyen understands the importance of LGBTQIA+ advocacy work and the ever-increasing need for improved LGBTQIA+ medical education, focusing specifically on the value of gender-affirming perioperative care. In his role as the Medical Director of the Gender Recognition and Affirmative Care through Education (GRACE) Team at Stanford Children’s Hospital and as the LGBTQ+ Health Leader for Stanford Anesthesiology Office of Diversity, Inclusivity, and Health Equity (ODIHE), Dr. Reece-Nguyen’s work promotes perioperative gender-affirming care education, quality improvement, and research efforts aimed at improving the healthcare experience for all transgender and gender-diverse adolescents. His clinical focus is ensuring all transgender and gender-diverse patients have an affirming and positive experience throughout their perioperative hospital stay.
