Mary Alice Miner, PhD, RN, CNOR

Senior Perioperative Practice Specialist

Dr. Mary Alice Miner is a Senior Perioperative Practice Specialist with the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses. She has served as the lead author for the AORN Guideline for Pneumatic Tourniquet Safety, Complementary Care, Patient Information Management, Design and Maintenance of the Perioperative Suite, and is now revising Prevention of Hypothermia. She also serves as a staff liaison to the AORN Nursing Research Committee and RN First Assistants and represent AORN on several boards, including FGI, ASHRAE, and ASHE.

Mary Alice is a proud member of Phi Kappa Phi, Sigma Theta Tau, and has been CNOR certified since 2015. She has worked in a variety of perioperative settings as a clinical staff nurse, preceptor, and charge nurse. She received her Master’s in Nursing Education from Texas Woman’s University in 2017, with a focus on simulation and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2021, focusing on factors that affect perioperative nurse attrition, including emotional intelligence, resilience, and teamwork.
