Kristyn Seeman, MLS, BSN, RN, CNOR

Clinical Perioperative Research Librarian

Kristyn has been with AORN since the fall of 2016. She became a professional librarian in 1998 and worked in the Philadelphia and South Jersey areas in that capacity until 2007. In 2008, upon completing an Accelerated Career Entry Bachelor of Nursing program, Kristyn began her perioperative nursing career at the University of Pennsylvania Health System, as one of their “Gateway to the OR” nurses. She worked for the Health System until 2014, when she began working at Cooper University’s Surgery Center. Kristyn missed Library work, though, and came to AORN as a Clinical Research Librarian, where she performs literature searches and retrievals for AORN’s Guidelines for Perioperative Practice authors. Because Kristyn also has a perioperative nursing background and holds her CNOR, that knowledge was utilized as well within a few years after joining AORN, and now in addition to her literature searching duties, she is another voice on AORN’s Nurse Consult Line, an additional author for AORN Journal’s “Clinical Issues” column, and an additional speaker for AORN.  Kristyn also serves as a Staff Liaison for AORN’s National Committee on Education, and as a team member on AORN’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee, assisting in AORN’s important Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts. She has also been helping update the Medical Library Association’s Essential Resources list, which is a collection development aid for medical librarians.
