Ingrid Rush, MHA, BSN

Clinical Trauma Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Specialist

Ingrid Rush, MHA, BSN, is the clinical trauma performance improvement and patient safety specialist at Boston Medical Center (BMC), New England’s largest and busiest level 1 trauma center and safety net hospital. She has worked at BMC since 1998 and now collaborates closely with members of the trauma and acute care surgery team and other changemakers to enhance the clinical outcomes of surgical patients. As a team facilitator for the trauma surgery high-performance team, she spearheaded multiple projects including a post-case mental health support debriefing for the perioperative team. 

Ingrid earned her Master of Healthcare Administration with a concentration in informatics at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts. For more than 25 years she has had the privilege of caring for under-served populations in her various roles in perioperative services, including surgical technician, OR nurse, nurse educator, and nursing leadership. In 2019, as the nurse manager and clinical flow coordinator for perioperative services, Ingrid was recognized with the Excellence in Nursing Leadership Award by the New England Regional Black Nurses Association.  She also received in-house recognition for her leadership response during the Covid-19 pandemic.

She has been an invited panelist at AORN’s Global Surgical Conference and Expo, sharing her experiences while providing care for Black/Latino patients, and at the 7th Annual Counselor Education Conference Empowering Diverse Voices, hosted by The Chicago School.  She has also presented at the New England Nursing Informatics Consortium annual conference and Epic’s annual XGM conference.
