Election Statement
The heart of AORN beats through the engagement of our members. However, we are facing a critical challenge: member engagement and retention, the lifeblood of our organization. Some chapters are struggling or disappearing, leading to a sense of disconnect that threatens the community and professional growth that have long been our hallmarks.
Supporting grassroots groups is crucial, as many perioperative nurses question the value of their membership. These issues are not insurmountable and can become opportunities to redefine who we are and what we strive to achieve together. With proper support, our members will ensure our future.
My focus is on addressing these challenges head-on by empowering members, enhancing membership value, and strengthening connections within AORN. I am committed to ensuring our members feel seen, heard, and supported in their professional journeys. As a Board member, I will champion the expertise, passion, and commitment that define AORN’s strength.
To address recruitment challenges, we must innovate how we present the value of membership. I’ll lead efforts to create compelling benefits that resonate with members, enhance professional development, and expand access to cutting-edge resources.
I am also deeply passionate about sustainability and the climate. If each of our 44,000 members made small improvements in sustainability practices, the collective impact would be profound.
Together, we can transform these challenges into opportunities for growth and a more sustainable future. I humbly ask for your vote and look forward to serving and supporting our vibrant community.
