Periop 101 Learning Plan for Perinatal Nurses

Cesarean deliveries can turn into a more complex surgery, and perinatal nurses should have the perioperative knowledge and skills, such as sterile and aseptic techniques, to safely care for both the pregnant patient and the baby.

Periop 101: A Core Curriculum™ Cesarean Section is one of the three available learning plans within the Periop 101 surgical nurse onboarding program. Periop 101 is a hybrid education program that incorporates both online didactic learning and hands-on training. The program has been developed and is continuously updated to reflect the latest AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice and includes Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies to ensure that nurses have the knowledge and skills necessary in keeping patients safe and providing high quality care.
