Is an administrator required?
Yes, if a facility purchases Periop Mastery 2.0 seats, an administrator must serve as the point-person between the facility and AORN. This includes using the AORN Facility Dashboard to invite students to register. At least one administrator from each facility must complete the Admin Guide before students can register.
How long do students have access?
Individuals who purchase Periop Mastery 2.0 have one year from the date of purchase to complete the courses.
Students in facility purchases have one year to complete each course from the date of registration.
Why should I offer Periop Mastery 2.0 to my nursing staff?
Experienced RNs need resources to stay up-to-date with the latest practices. AORN designed this program to help practicing perioperative RNs maintain their competency and improve their confidence in their practice.
AORN’s online Periop Mastery 2.0 is designed to bring your entire staff up-to-date on the latest AORN’s Guidelines for Perioperative Practice. The program incorporates confidence-based learning, helping the student retain knowledge and recall that knowledge at critical moments.

Can new RNs enroll in Periop Mastery?
The Periop Mastery 2.0 is intended for experienced RNs. It can help staff and facilities:
- Assess annual competencies
- Prepare for site visits, or create action plans post-visit as a result of findings
- On-board experienced or travel RNs
- Provide annual training
- Address remediation concerns
- Implement general education initiatives
Are there any resources to help the administrator implement the program?
Yes, the Administrator Guide provides information on the theory behind Periop Mastery 2.0, the components of the program, considerations in developing a schedule, and instructions on reports and managing your facility contract.
Administrators can access the Guide on the AORN Learning Center (ALC) after they register for the course. At least one administrator from each facility must complete the Guide before students can register.
There are no contact hours associated with complete the Guide.
Can Administrators earn contact hours for taking the Periop Mastery 2.0 courses?
Yes. Administrators receive the entire set of courses and can earn contact hours for completing them. Administrators have access to the courses for the length of their facility contract.
Are there any resources to help students understand the program?
Course instructions are included on the Welcome Page for each course.
What are the requirements to earn contact hours?
Each course within Periop Mastery 2.0 has its own contact hours. Students must complete all course components and submit a course evaluation to earn the contact hours for that course. Students can print a Certificate of Completion from the ALC or from the AORN web site.
