Susan Lynch, PhD, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, CNOR, CNAMB, CSSM, FACHE, is the director of Surgical Services at Chester County Hospital, West Chester, Pennsylvania. She earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Holy Family University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a Master of Science in nursing education from Neumann University, Aston, Pennsylvania; and a Doctor of Philosophy in nursing research from Villanova University, Pennsylvania. She is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Lynch has been a perioperative nurse for 33 years and a member of AORN for 20 years. She is a member of

  • AORN of Southeastern Pennsylvania (2014-present),
  • the RNFA Specialty Assembly (2014-present),
  • the Sterile Processing/Supply Chain Management Specialty Assembly (2014-present),

Lynch has attended Congress five times in the past 10 years, three times as a delegate.

Election Statement

As perioperative nurses, we continue to stand the test of time. We have been impacted at various levels, both personally and professionally, by the COVID-19 pandemic. And we continue to be impacted by nursing shortages, supply shortages, fatigue, burn out and more. Through health care climate changes, we remain resilient and nimble. Utilizing our knowledge, skills, and expertise in providing safe patient care, we strive for superior outcomes for our patients and their families. Nurses continue to be identified as the most trusted professional, respected for our compassionate care, empathy, and commitment to patient advocacy. AORN’s Mission, Vision, and Values serve as a guiding light and inspiration for nurses.

We will continue to journey courageously through variations of health care with the guidance of a strong organization and most importantly, the network of our relationships. AORN’s leadership will continue to use the innovative mindset to make important decisions to maintain the organization’s stability and continue to support its members.

I have served on various professional committees as well as local committees. I consider myself a life-long learner and welcome opportunities to share my knowledge and experience with others. My leadership experience and professional organizational involvement have prepared me to successfully step into the AORN Nominating Committee role. I am an enthusiastic, engaged, and transformational leader with the ability to work collaboratively.
