Outstanding Achievement in Perioperative Education: Clinical
Leah Goldberg MSN, RN, CNOR is a proud UCONN School of Nursing alumni (2011) and recently completed her MSN in Nursing Education at the University of Hartford. Beyond her daily work as an operating room staff nurse at the Bone and Joint Institute at Hartford Hospital, she is current Treasurer, and past President, of AORN Connecticut Chapter 0701. She serves on national committees and was twice honored as an AORN Emerging Leader Under 40.
Leah shares her enthusiasm for education by dedicating time to formal and informal presentations to students and healthcare professionals about perioperative nursing and planning informative AORN CT chapter meetings. She is particularly excited about the development of the Periop ConneCT regional conference, a multi-year collaboration between AORN CT and OR Today, bringing nurses, surgical technologists, and SPD professionals together to network, learn from experts, and explore solutions from industry partners.
With a passion for improving the perioperative profession and patient care, Leah seeks opportunities to develop and implement interdisciplinary EBP/QI projects showcasing collaboration between OR and SPD in improving workflow and safety; and research with surgeons and scientists on patient outcomes. She shares these results through poster and oral presentations at conferences and journal publications.
