Outstanding Achievement in Nursing Clinical Practice

Dave Calubaquib is a nursing leader with extensive experience in multiple clinical areas. As the Assistant Nurse Manager at MD Anderson Cancer Center, he oversees a wide array of services, including Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, Pulmonary care, Pre-operative, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), High-Level Disinfection (HLD), and Central Sterile Processing Department (CSPD). His role requires a high degree of skill in both leadership and clinical expertise, managing diverse teams across complex, multidisciplinary environments to ensure exceptional patient care.

In addition to his leadership at MD Anderson, Dave serves as a per diem nurse, offering flexibility in his contributions to patient care. Previously, he was a Clinical Nurse Leader/RN IV at Houston Methodist The Woodlands, where he played a vital role in improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices and collaborative team management.

His commitment to professional development and advancement in nursing is evident through his active participation in the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), where he serves in various roles in different specialty assemblies, and the Guidelines Advisory Board, which he actively participated in updating the guidelines for perioperative practices. Additionally, he co-authored and was a subject-matter expert for educational offerings, such as the Peri-op 202, which helps educate and standardize perioperative practices, further solidifying his expertise and leadership in the nursing community. He is the immediate past president of AORN 4410 North Harris Montgomery Chapter.
