Outstanding Achievement in Perioperative Nursing Evidence-Based Practice

He initially enlisted in the Army in 1987 as a M1A1 Tank Crewmember. After receiving an honorable discharge, he attended Texas Woman’s University, earning a BSN in 1994. He had a twenty-one-year break in service before receiving a direct commission appointment to the Army Nurse Corps in 2010. In 2014, he attended the Perioperative AOC course. His passion for perioperative nursing led him to apply for and be accepted into the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences perioperative DNP program that saw him graduate in 2020 with his DNP. MAJ Knight has co-authored multiple manuscripts published in peer reviewed journals and has been recognized for his outstanding achievements and demonstrated excellence in conducting and promoting evidence-based practice by the Army Nurse Corps Association and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses. He is currently stationed at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany serving as a Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist and Deputy Chief of Evidence-Based Practice focused on guiding initiatives and projects aimed at improving military mission readiness capabilities, provision of better patient care and promotion of better patient health in order to enhance the quality and safety of healthcare delivery.
