1. Grand Ole Opry

Because you’re in Nashville after all. Dubbed the “home of American music,” the Opry houses three venues: the Grand Ole Opry House, Ryman Auditorium, and Opry City Stage. Book ahead to get tickets for a show or purchase a show package with options for backstage tours, a visit to the Johnny Cash Museum, and more.

2. The District

Looking for evening fun? This downtown hot spot hosts three of Nashville’s historic districts, including 2nd Avenue, Broadway and Printer’s Alley. In the District you can find the right spot for post-conference dining. Don’t forget to hit lower Broadway (known as Honky-Tonk Row) to catch live music—Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge is a nostalgic stop that also features live local talent.

3. The Parthenon at Centennial Park

Want to step even further back in time? Visit this full-scale replica of the Parthenon in Athens. It houses art galleries that feature prominent American 19th and 20th century artists. Stroll (or enjoy a nice run) beyond the temple to explore the surrounding Centennial Park that neighbors Vanderbilt University.

For all car-enthusiasts, a visit to this converted bakery offers an eclectic view of vintage European cars. Check out microcars, motorcycles, and even a unique collection of bicycles.

5. Husk Restaurant

Noshing in Nashville is a must, but why not take in Southern architecture as you nibble? That’s what this pure Southern eatery promises. Housed in a historic mansion once home to the city’s mayor (in 1897), the culinary offerings are farm-to-table meets Southern best with heirloom husbandry and in-house pickling. Try a truly Southern tradition and visit at happy hour in the parlor for drinks and snacks.

6. Arnold’s Country Kitchen

Looking for more down-home food fare? Try this iconic “meat and 3,” serving up fried chicken, roast beef, and Southern sides washed down with a nice icy glass of sweet tea. Arnold’s is open for lunch Monday-Friday and they even deliver!

7. The Patterson Speak-Easy on Music Row

If you’re looking for a custom cocktail, this is an upscale bar with a prohibition-era vibe. Be prepared to play it cool, be careful who you talk to (this is a speak-easy after all), and turn off your cell phone.

8. Shelby Bottoms Greenway and Natural Area

For those looking to take in the sights of a Southern Spring (between dawn to dusk), this five-mile greenway offers trails for hiking, biking, running and watching wildlife along the Cumberland River. Rent a bike and catch this leg of the Music City Bikeway to tour through the city, too.
