Ideas That Work: Put Your Staff in the Spotlight

Share:

Sure, you know the workplace personalities of your staff, but how well do you really know them? Here’s a fun and effective way to find out more about the people you work with. Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, Ore., started a program called “Spotlight On” during the long months when the pandemic prevented staff from getting together and socializing outside of the facility. Each month, a staff member is chosen to be in the “spotlight.” That staff member picks one of the pre-prepared Spotlight templates — templates that ask about things like their favorite foods, places and activities — to fill with photos that highlight what they love and who they are outside of the facility. The finished posterboard is then displayed in the facility’s main hallway for the month. “It gives our staff a chance to learn more about each other, and it humanizes the person being showcased,” says Laura Nelson, RN, BSN, CNOR, manager of surgical services at Asante.
