Leaders often must make difficult decisions under pressure. While urgent, these should never be rushed. Instead, they call for the employment of your best critical thinking skills. Slow down and focus on understanding the true nature of the problem at hand. While it is tempting to rely on your instincts, instead gather data, evidence and insight from multiple perspectives, if possible. Avoid emotions and think analytically and rationally. Evaluate potential solutions, taking into account their strengths and weaknesses. Which provides true value? Which could unleash additional problems? By getting the full picture, you are better positioned to achieve the best possible outcome.
