Decreasing hospital acquired pressure injury (HAPI) has been an ongoing battle for the ICU care team. This webinar will provide baseline knowledge needed to identify high risk pressure injury patients in the ICU.
You’ll learn what extrinsic and intrinsic risk factors are unique to the ICU patient which increases their risk for pressure injury. The latest research and evidence-based interventions needed to improve HAPI rates in the ICU will be reviewed, along with various types of technology available to help you in the mission of protecting your patient’s skin.

Heather Kooiker

Heather is a Mastered prepared, Certified Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) who also holds Certifications in Perioperative Registered Nursing (CNOR), along with a Registered Nurse First Assistant Certification (CRNFA). Heather is faculty for Davenport University BSN program, located in Grand Rapids Michigan, where she instructs evidence-based practice, senior capstone and coordinates the perioperative immersion program to the future generation of nurses. She is also the Senior Medical Affairs Manager for Patient Care Solutions and Global Surgical Solutions at Baxter International. The foundation of Heathers clinical knowledge has been built through her 28 years of nursing experience Heather is the president of her local Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) chapter, active with the ANA mentoring program. Heather also sits on the Executive Board for the National Assistant at Surgery Certification (NASC).
