What’s the Current ASC Count Nationwide?

The ASC market continues to take on procedures from inpatient settings, depending on the procedures and the patient. With that change fueled during the pandemic and post-pandemic comes additional ambulatory facilities openings. According to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the number of ASCs has grown from 6,109 last year to 6,223 in 2023.

California has the most ASCs of any state with 848 total ambulatory surgery centers, with Florida following at 468, nearly half as many. The other top states include Texas with 458 facilities and Georgia with 386 ASCs located in that southern state. OSM
