As a leader, you need to look ahead for long-term solutions to an ever-changing environment while at the same time dealing with daily challenges. While your mindset is that you are always preparing for change, perhaps your staff is not. They may prefer the status quo and get thrown when changes come their way — major as well as minor ones. The refrain “we’ve always done it that way” comes to mind. Be aware that everything new will feel different, and people need time to absorb and adjust. Open communication is key, as always, when riding the wave of change.
