AORN’s Updated Medication Safety Guidelines

The Association of periOperative Nurses (AORN) is the go-to association for the latest surgical guidelines for OR teams. The recently updated Medication Safety guideline is published in the 2024 edition of the AORN Guidelines for Perioperative Practice. Healthcare professionals will be able to stay current with the latest evidence-based practice recommendations.

Medication Safety guideline author, Julie Cahn, describes medication errors as “the most commonly reported type of medical error.” Recently, there has been criminalization of medical errors on the part of healthcare personnel. She says, “Medication errors are important for patients and for personnel.”
