Alan Oliver Frazier, 51, the man who killed a physician and wounded 2 others at a Reno, Nev., urology office Tuesday before turning the gun on himself, suffered post-op complications from a 2010 vasectomy and condemned doctors for his condition, according to police.
Charles Garo Gholdoian, MD, was killed in the rampage at Urology Nevada's offices near Renown Regional Medical Center. Christine Lajeunesse, MD, FRCSC, FACS, was critically injured, as was patient escort Shawntae Spears.
After searching Mr. Frazier's Lake Almanor, Calif., home, 130 miles north of Reno, police found internet postings in which he compared his severe symptoms to chronic fatigue syndrome and accused his physicians of misleading him on the surgery's potential consequences. They also found a suicide note detailing his plans for the attack.
While police report that witnesses to the shooting heard him say he was looking for physicians, they've not yet specified whether the physician victims or the practice were involved in his surgery. Mr. Frazier's former fiancée has disclosed that he was medicated for depression in the 1990s.
