AORN accepts seat on AAAHC board

Publish Date: 12/2/2011

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) has approved AORN for full membership in the AAAHC and a seat on the association’s board of directors. Jan Davidson, MSN, RN, AORN manager of ambulatory products will represent AORN in this position on the AAAHC’s board.

Davidson said she feels humbled to represent AORN on the AAAHC board of directors. “I believe I will be the only nurse on their board, so for AORN to have a voice at their table is such an honor,” she noted. “In addition, I am hopeful that my background in health care risk management will further be seen as a benefit to their organization, and I hope that what I am able to offer will be as valuable to them as the knowledge I will gain by serving in this capacity.”

This new collaboration with AAAHC will provide AORN additional opportunities to support the goals and initiatives of the AAAHC and the broader ambulatory community. AORN Standards and Recommended Practices are equally important in the ambulatory setting as they are in the hospital setting. Partnerships and collaborations with the AAAHC and the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities are important to support the perioperative nurse in every surgical environment.
