Great ideas for your OR

Barrier Protection for Beards

Healthmark Industries had added beard nets to its line of personal protection equipment. The single-use product made of polypropylene covers facial hair to prevent possible contamination of surgical incisions. The net, which is one size fits most and available in packs of one to 100, joins the company’s face shields, decontamination gowns, gloves, headwear and leggings to protect providers and patients from bloodborne pathogens and harmful bacteria.

The Pulse Platform from NuVasive integrates several technologies to help spine surgeons perform more efficient procedures and achieve reproduceable outcomes. Pulse limits radiation exposure with C-arm tracking and 2D image-enhancement software, and reduces OR clutter. The platform provides wireless access to neuromonitoring, intraoperative imaging and surgical navigation to give the surgeon, C-arm tech and members of the surgical team seamless and simultaneous access to essential clinical information — letting them make more informed decisions throughout a variety of complex surgeries.

Precise Cuts for Shave Biopsies

AccuThrive blades, a new line from AccuTec, are designed for the specific needs of dermatologists. The blades feature a proprietary polymer coating that creates lubricity and resilience for smoother incisions and reduced tissue trauma. The line’s double-edge DermaBlade is an advanced shave biopsy instrument with a simple, thin and flexible design. Its specially designed grips allows for maximum maneuverability in small areas. Physicians can use the blade to take a variety of specimens — deep and wide or broad and shallow — while leaving a clean deficit. The blade comes individually packaged for immediate use.
