Welcome one and all to New Orleans and our Global Surgical Conference & Expo 2022!
Let’s take this time to shake off the many burdens we’ve been carrying during the pandemic. We have earned this time together to advance our practice and professional skills and have hands-on experience with new technologies in Expo Hall. We’ll also compete for prizes and periop bragging rights and, yes, celebrate and party each and every day (and night) with those who understand us best – our perioperative nurse colleagues from around the world.
At the start of my term, I selected the theme, “Advocacy: Take a Stand.” At the time, I did not expect for a single moment that one year later, perioperative professionals would still be pushing through times more challenging than any we could have imagined. As hard as it’s been, we have come to know ourselves better and perhaps, more important, we have learned new ways to advocate for ourselves. We now know we can do anything that is asked of us, and we can all be proud of our newfound strength and confidence.
But don’t stop now. This is OUR week to take advantage of so many opportunities to network and have fun. The activities and events were planned to keep the energy high and reinforce the passion you feel for the perioperative profession. And remember to schedule time in Expo Hall because the manufacturers’ representatives are incredibly excited to reconnect with you. Their exhibit booths are three years in the making, so please take advantage of their presence to learn about every product advancement that is new for safe patient care.
In everything you do here at Expo, as well as at home and work, I wish you continued strength and confidence as you advocate for yourself, your team, and your patients.
With warmest wishes,
