The AORN Recommended Practices for Care of the Patient Receiving Local Anesthesia is open for public comment from August 26 through September 23.
The proposed Recommended Practices for Care of the Patient Receiving Local Anesthesia are presented for review and comment. These recommended practices provide guidance for the perioperative registered nurse (RN) caring for the patient receiving local anesthesia by injection, infiltration, or topical application. This document includes guidance for patient assessment, patient monitoring, recognition and treatment of local anesthetic systemic toxicity (LAST), assessment for local anesthetic allergies, and documentation of patient care.
The AORN Recommended Practices for Complementary Care Interventions is open for public comment from September 20 through October 19.
These recommended practices provide guidance for perioperative RNs who provide complementary care interventions. This document includes guidance for music therapy, hypnosis, massage, acupuncture and acupressure, aromatherapy, Reiki, and guided imagery for patients before, during, or after surgery.
