Implementing AORN Recommended Practices for Sterilization
Sterilization is essential to reducing or preventing the risk of surgical site infections. The revised AORN “Recommended practices for sterilization,” includes updates on sterilizing single-use items, inspecting critical items before sterilization, using low-temperature hydrogen peroxide vapor sterilization methods, and immediate use steam sterilization. This RP document is the first AORN document to be evidence rated and accepted for inclusion in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality National Guideline Clearinghouse.
