Standards and Recommended Practices
AORN's Standards and Recommended Practices is the industry standard and has recently been included in the prestigious National Guideline Clearing House. The Recommended Practices are reviewed and updated on an approximately five-year cycle. While under review, before being published, each recommended practice document is open for a 30-day public comment period. Once an RP is released, AORN develops extensive educational content and modalities to assist in implementation of the RPs based on member needs.
