Publish Date: March 30, 2016

Earlier this year Tennessee Senator Mark Norris introduced SB 2581, a bill which would have the board responsible for licensing hospitals and other health care facilities report to the senate and house health committees concerning the need for central service technicians to be regulated and certified in order to provide sterile processing services in Tennessee hospitals and related health care institutions. The bill was heard on March 21 in the Senate Health and Welfare Committee and was recommended for passage with eight Ayes and 0 Nays and referred to the Senate Calendar. The companion bill, HB 2332, introduced by Representative Cameron Sexton will be heard today, March 30, in the House Health Committee. If this legislation passes, the report will be due before January 17, 2017.
