Tennessee Considers Central Service Certification

Publish Date: February 2, 2016

In late January 2016, Tennessee Representative Cameron Sexton introduced HB 2332, a bill which would have the board responsible for licensing hospitals and other health care facilities report to the senate and house health committees concerning the need for central service technicians to be regulated and certified in order to provide sterile processing services in Tennessee hospitals and related health care institutions. The companion bill, SB 2581, is in the Senate Health and Welfare Committee for consideration. If this legislation passes, the report will be due before January 17, 2017.

AORN government affairs will continue to monitor this bill and report to the membership on any movement.
