Virginia BON Proposes Continued Competency Requirements

AORN has submitted comments to the Virginia Board of Nursing regarding a proposed change in regulations that would require continued competency for active RN
license renewals. If adopted, the regulations would allow nurses with certain
certifications to automatically meet the continued competency requirements
rather than requiring a nurse to complete additional activities. AORN sought to
ensure the CNOR and CRNFA credentials that would meet the proposal’s continued
competency requirements. The comment period for this proposed regulatory change
ends December 7. AORN Government Affairs
