Kelly (Boyle) Kollar, MSN, RN, CNOR - Chair 

Kelly is a Clinical Educator for the operating room, at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. She earned her associate degree in nursing from Lehigh Carbon Community College, Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, and her bachelor of science degree in nursing and master of science degree in nursing from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts.

Kollar has been a perioperative nurse for 11 years and a member of AORN for eight years. She is a member AORN of Massachusetts Chapter 1 (2004-present), the Massachusetts State Council (2010-present), the Pediatrics Specialty Assembly (2004-present), the Leadership Specialty Assembly (2010-present), and the Minimally Invasive Surgery/Lasers/Robotics Specialty Assembly (2010-present).

Kollar has attended Congress six times in the past 10 years, four times as a delegate. Kollar is a member of the Sigma Alpha Lambda honor society (2007) and a member of Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society (2008).

Lisa Bailey, BS, RN, CNOR 

Lisa Bailey is a perioperative nurse coordinator/educator at Scott & White Memorial Hospital Main OR, Temple, Texas. She has worked in the perioperative setting for 19 years while working as a surgical technologist eight of those years. She earned her associate degree in nursing from Central Texas College, Killeen, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Bellevue University, Bellevue, Nebraska. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington.

While being a perioperative nurse for 11 years, Bailey has been a member of AORN for 10 years. She is a member of AORN of Central Texas (2003-present), the Texas Council of Operating Room Nurses (2007-present), the Leadership Specialty Assembly (2003-present), the Ambulatory Surgery Center Specialty Assembly (2008-present), and the Clinical Nurse Educator Specialty Assembly (2010-present). She has been a member of the Cardiothoracic Specialty Assembly (2003-2006), and was the Secretary for the Texas Council of Operating Room nurses (2010-2012).She was also a member of the National AORN Green Task Force (2011-2012). Bailey has attended Congress eight times in the past 10 years.

Jay Bowers, BSN, RN, CNOR, TNCC 

James (Jay) Bowers is a clinical nurse preceptor/educator at West Virginia University Hospital, Morgantown. He earned his bachelor of science degree in nursing from West Virginia University, Morgantown.

Bowers has been a perioperative nurse for 21 years and a member of AORN for 21 years. He is a member of AORN of North Central West Virginia (2002-present), the West Virginia State Council (2002-present), the Orthopedic Specialty Assembly (2002-present), the Trauma Specialty Assembly (2005-present), the Clinical Nurse Educator Specialty Assembly (2007-present),the General Surgery/Gynecology Specialty Assembly (2009-present), and the Pediatrics Specialty Assembly (2009-present).

He has been a member of the Neurosurgery Specialty Assembly (2004-2007). Bowers has attended Congress 11 times in the past 11 years.

Karen M. Lemmons, BSN, RN, CNOR 

Karen has been a perioperative nurse for 16 years and is the orthopedic team leader at Randolph Hospital. She earned her associate degree in nursing from Randolph Community College, Asheboro, North Carolina and a bachelor of science in nursing from Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina. Since joining AORN in 1999 Karen has been a very active member. She is an ambassador for AORN, chapter president for Piedmont Periops Chapter 3415(2010-2011), and chair for the North Carolina Council of Perioperative Registered Nurses (2011-2012). Karen is also the recipient of the North Carolina Perioperative Nurse of the Year (2013).

Lemmons was appointed chair of the Legislative Committee for the North Carolina Council of Perioperative Registered Nurses in 2012. She has worked tirelessly spearheading the efforts of North Carolina’s RN Circulator Bill which was introduced in the North Carolina Senate in 2013. Karen has collaborated with the North Carolina Nurses Association, volunteering once a month as Nurse for the Day at the legislature, building relationships with the senators and representatives of the North Carolina legislature. She is a recipient of the American Nurses Association’s Advocacy Institute (2012) working on educating nurses about legislative issues.

Mary C. Russell, MN, RN, FNP-BC, CNOR 

Mary C. Russell is a nurse practitioner for plastic and reconstructive surgery service at the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Portland, Oregon. She earned her diploma in nursing from Hurley Medical Center School of Nursing, Flint, Michigan, her bachelor of science in nursing from Oregon Health Science University, Portland, Oregon and her master in nursing from Washington State University School of Nursing, Vancouver.

Mary has been a perioperative nurse for 36 years and a member of AORN for 35 years. She is a member of AORN of the Columbia River Region since 1978 to the present and the Oregon State Council of Perioperative Nurses since 1994 where she currently serves as President. She is a member of the Advanced Practice Nursing Specialty Assembly, the Federal Nurses Specialty Assembly and Plastic Surgery interest group. She has served AORN nationally on the Continuing Education Approval Committee, Nursing Research Committee, the Evidence Based Practice Committee, the Nursing Perioperative Nursing Dataset Taskforce, Membership Committee and the Legislative Committee.. She has attended Congress seven times in the past 10 years, each time as a delegate. Mary is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau since 1982. She currently serves on her hospital Nursing Research Committee and has worked to help implement the Johns Hopkins Evidence Based Practice Model as their facilities nursing model.

Deborah G. Spratt  MPA, BSN, RN, CNOR, NEA-BC, CRCST, CHL - Advisor 

Deborah Spratt is currently is currently the Director of Surgical Services at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia NY. She was previously the Manager of Sterile Processing at the Canandaigua VAMC in Canandaigua, NY She was previously a staff nurse at the Lattimore Community Surgicenter (LCS) in Rochester, New York. Prior to LCS, she was the clinical director of perioperative services at the University of Rochester's Highland Hospital. Spratt was also at the University of Rochester's Strong Memorial Hospital as the director of value analysis, with responsibility for both capital and supply product evaluation, and purchase recommendation. In addition, she was a nursing clinical specialist assisting with ongoing Magnet and JCAHO Interdisciplinary preparation, and a liaison between nursing and other departments with a focus on patient and workplace safety, process improvement, and systems. Ms. Spratt was nurse manager in the OR at Strong Memorial Hospital providing administrative and clinical leadership for more than 150 perioperative RNs and technicians. Prior to joining Strong Memorial, Ms. Spratt was clinical director of the Lattimore Community Surgicenter in Rochester, New York. Before joining Lattimore, Ms. Spratt was manager of surgical services at Highland Hospital. She earned her diploma in nursing from Highland Hospital, her BSN from Alfred University in Alfred, New York, and a Master's in Public Administration from the State University of New York at Brockport. In 1979, Ms. Spratt achieved her CNOR and in 1993 obtained her CNAA. She has been a perioperative nurse since 1973 and a member of AORN since 1975. She contributed to the AORN publications, Ambulatory Surgery Principles and Practices, and Leadership in Action-A Manager's Guide to Success. She is one of several authors of the book Operating Room Management. Ms. Spratt has testified as an expert witness in the areas of ambulatory/office-based surgery and OR nursing practice and was a member of the New York State Department of Health's Committee on Quality Assurance in Office Based Surgery, and the Procedural and Site Verification Panel. She is a member of the AORN Ambulatory Surgery and Leadership Specialty Assemblies and has served on the governing council for each specialty assembly. She was a member of the AORN Governance Task Force, Specialty Assemblies Futures Task Force, and the Workplace Safety Task Force. Ms. Spratt was a member [2003-2004] and Chair of the 2004-2005 AORN Nominating Committee. She has been a member of the AORN Board of Directors [2006-2008], AORN Secretary [2008-2010] and President-Elect [2011-2012]. Ms. Spratt is also a member of AONE, ANA, IAHCSMM, and Sigma Theta Tau.

Spratt was the 2012-2013 AORN President.
