The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Institute of Medicine (IOM) calls for more nurse involvement in the reform of our health care systems. The recommendations in the report provide an action-oriented blueprint for the future of nursing.  

AORN Support

AORN services closely align with the IOM's recommendations. In addition to evidence-based, peer reviewed material for safe practices in the OR, AORN provides extensive education programs that address the report's recommendations for nurses to take on a greater leadership role.

State Activity

The Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action is designed to advance the nursing profession through partnerships with numerous health care groups and professionals. State-based Action Coalitions are being formed to implement the recommendations in the IOM report.
